What Are You Training For? (01/24/2024)

Have you ever done something and you’re surprised by how well you performed or how you rebounded quickly?

Or maybe the opposite happened and you’re dumbfounded by how unprepared and out of shape you felt?

Being physically fit allows you the ability to handle the unpredictability of day-to-day life.

When you’re physically capable of doing anything you need on a daily basis, you’re in a advantageous position.

When you’re not capable of dealing with stressors, or limited in your gross movements because of a lack of physicality, you’re at a disadvantage.

If your kids want to wrestle and you can’t because you’re too tired, scared of getting hurt or winded quickly, that’s a conflict.

If your dad falls and can’t get up on his own, but you can pick him up because you are strong and know how to lift properly, that’s positively reinforcing your physicality and ability.

Fitness is used as a tool to get from your point A to your ideal point B. It’s a journey over time developing your “useful strength.”

What you do in the gym is not meant to be your highlight reel, unless that’s what you love and live for.

What you are capable of outside of the gym is your true highlight reel.

Ski from the top of the mountain to the bottom over and over again with your family and friends. Then do it again the next day.

Teach your kids how to jump rope in the driveway. Show them your skills

Run a half marathon with friends raising awareness and funds for a cause that means something to you personally.

Shovel your driveway with ease because your snowblower isn’t working.

Whether it’s fat-loss, powerlifting, body building, overall athleticism, or confidence – whatever your reason – building strength and endurance makes you resilient and can provide you with rewarding and gratifying outcomes.

A man must develop his physical prowess up to a certain point, but after he has reached that point there are other things that count more.” – Theodore Roosevelt

There are so many benefits of exercise and being physically fit.
