“You’ll often hear “fake it before you make it.” But you’re not faking anything. You still lack confidence. Instead, you gain confidence by overcoming challenges. Each difficult situation you overcome is like a brick that you can use to build the foundation of your confidence.”
I love this message from Nick Albin, aka Chew Jitsu, who I’ve mentioned before in newsletters.
When you take the first step with the intention of creating positive change for yourself, it must be a small first step because you want your actions to lead to realistic and achievable opportunities.
It will be scary and filled with uncertainty. You just have to do it.
Whether your goal is to lose fat or get stronger or feel better – you have to take action.
If your goals revolve around going to the gym – you have to show up consistently.
Every step after that first step can be small too.
When you show up to the gym, work hard.
Each action step is practice, and practice develops skill, which creates positive momentum and builds experience.
The small action steps add up like bricks.
Each time you follow through with yourself and take action, you’re reinforcing your mission of achieving your goals, facing your challenge head on.
Don’t give up on what you committed to this year.
Don’t wait until you feel confident.
Don’t let fear or uncertainty win.
Don’t wait to take action.
Action precedes confidence.
Each action step is a brick in your foundation, strengthening who you want to become.
Your confidence, and progress, will grow by taking those small action steps, one after the next.
