The FIVE Lessons ELEVATE Will Happily Teach Forever

Welcome to the second half of 2026. Whether the first six months have gone exactly as planned or not, today is simply another opportunity to recommit to the principles that produce lasting progress.

At ELEVATE, we’ve found there are a handful of lessons that never go out of style, ideas we’ll continue teaching because they work, both inside and outside of the gym.

1. Consistent, Appropriate Effort Leads To Progress

Progress isn’t built through heroic workouts or perfect weeks.

It’s built through showing up consistently and applying the appropriate amount of effort over a long period of time.

The goal isn’t maximum effort.

The goal is sustainable progress.

2. Practice Patience

Nothing meaningful happens overnight.

Strength.

Health.

Confidence.

Resilience.

Trust.

All of these require time.

We encourage people to stop chasing quick results and start building something they’ll still have years from now.

3. Strength Is A Skill Worth Practicing

Strength isn’t something you either have or you don’t.

It’s practiced.

It can be developed.

Like any skill, it improves through quality repetition, coaching, feedback, and patience.

4. Build Useful Strength

Strength should improve life outside of the gym.

Train with purpose.

Train with intent.

Build a body that lets you:

  • play with your kids
  • bike or hike the mountain
  • recover from surgery
  • move furniture or carry the groceries in one trip
  • practice and play your favorite sport
  • age well
  • continue doing the things you love

Useful strength is the point.

5. It’s Not All Or Nothing

Stop trying to change everything at once.

Find the one thing that matters most.

Do it well.

Turn it into a habit.

Then build on it.

Long-term success is built one sustainable habit at a time.

Bonus Principle – Reality Wins

One of the biggest influences on my thinking comes from Trevor Moaward’s “It Takes What It Takes.”

Performance improves when we deal with reality objectively instead of emotionally.

Accept reality.

Remove unnecessary stories.

Execute the next best action.

Reality is where progress begins.
